Men's tennis ends season with fifth-place match win at NWC Championships

The Whitworth men's tennis team ended the season on Saturday, April 19 with a 6-3 fifth-place game victory over the University of Puget Sound, capping a day that began with a disappointing 5-4 loss to Willamette University in the first round of the Northwest Conference Championships in Yakima.
Senior Scott Donnell and freshman Joe Wales won in their No. 2 doubles match 8-4 against Willamette, and following with wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
Donnell and Wales won again at No. 2 doubles against UPS, while sophomore Josh Steele and freshman Colin Zalewski added to the win tally at No. 3 doubles with an 8-2 triumph.
The team finishes the season with a 14-11 mark overall and 10-6 in conference.
