On the cusp of going to the NCAA Division III tournament, the Whitworth women's tennis team fell 5-4 to Linfield College at the NWC Championships on Friday, April 19 in Yakima.

Freshman Katie Staudinger and senior Taryn Smith won No. 3 doubles 8-1 for Whitworth.

Staudinger won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles to finish the season 19-1 in singles matches. Junior Justine Hays and Smith also won their singles matches for the Pirates on the day.
